Introduction

Deedat put this together in 1992 to help Muslims cope with Christians when they attempt to share the good news (often called the gospel in the Bible[1]) with them. What he advised them to do was to get hold of a Bible and paste his book into the Bible so that they would have it to hand when they met Christians. Not sure how bulky that would make the Bible but I guess it is a plan.

When looking at any challenges to the Christian faith such as this by Deedat we have to remember the first recorded words of Satan in the Bible “Did God really say” (Genesis 3:1). Jesus said of the Devil “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44b). If someone wants to disbelieve the scriptures then he is free to do so. As Paul Simon sung in one of his songs, “still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest but it not the wisest thing to do. The wise person will seek out the truth regardless of the cost but the fool will seek people to tell him what they want to hear. The Devil is ready to be that source of lies. I pray you choose the way of wisdom.

The contents list 44 section but the number of questions is actually much greater than that. For example section 3 on absurdities has 12 examples and each needs challenging on their own. What I will do is tackle each section one by one. There are a lot of issues introduced here so you can imagine how intimidating it would be for a Christian to have all these thrown at them all at once. Given time, most Christians would be able to answer all if not most of these – as I am doing here – but that could be challenging when it is all thrown at you all at once when face to face with a Muslim.

Some things to note before getting into the sections.

A lot of the issues raised are likely going to make you say “so what, what is your point?” This is because Deedat seems to think that if an event takes place in the Bible then the Bible is condoning the particular action that someone performed – so watch out for those.

Deedat loves to quote the King James version (KJV) translation when it suits him. Often the word used is an archaic word as you may expect with a translation that was done back in the 17th century. There are other issues with the KJV which I will discuss when they arise.

Never take the section at face value. Always read the stated Bible verse and check out any facts that Deedat gives.

Deedat also likes to take a position that if the Quran says something is wrong then the Bible should do the same. He is trying to tell God what to do.

Notes

[1] Muslims get very confused between the word gospel (Injil in the Quran) and what have become to be known as the Gospels – that is the books of Matthew Mark Luke and John in the Bible. In fact the word Gospel was not used in the four Gospels to refer to the book itself but was a term that was added later. The Gospel according to John for example. The word gospel (and Injil) simply mean the good news, which is referring to the good news that God has delivered to mankind, of free forgiveness of sin by the grace of God.
